# Automate Your Discord Server with Triggers and Auto-Roles

> Set up Solara's automation tools to handle welcome messages, assign roles automatically, create reaction role menus, and schedule announcements.

Repetitive server tasks take time away from building your community. Solara's automation tools handle the routine work for you — greeting new members, assigning roles on join, sending scheduled announcements, and responding to keywords — so your team can focus on what matters.

## Features

**Welcome and farewell messages**
Configure personalised welcome messages for new members with `/welcome`, and set a farewell message for departing members with `/leave-msg`. Both support Discord embeds, so you can include images, fields, and formatted text to make a great first impression.

**Auto-role on join**
Automatically assign a role to every new member that joins your server with `/autorole`. You can configure separate roles for human members and bots, giving you precise control over default permissions from the moment someone arrives.

**Reaction roles**
Let members self-assign roles by reacting to a message with `/reaction-role`. Attach any emoji to any role on any message — members click the emoji to get the role, and click again to remove it. No command required on their end.

**Scheduled announcements**
Use `/schedule` to queue a message for delivery at a specific time and channel. Ideal for timed event reminders, weekly recaps, or any announcement you want to prepare in advance.

**Custom triggers**
Create keyword-triggered auto-responses with `/trigger`. When Solara detects a defined keyword in a message, it replies automatically with your configured response. Useful for FAQs, common support questions, and community in-jokes.

## Setting up auto-role

<Steps>
  <Step title="Run /autorole setup">
    Type `/autorole setup` in any channel where Solara has access. This opens the configuration prompt.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Select the role to assign">
    Choose the role you want Solara to apply to every new join. You can pick any role that sits below Solara's own role in the hierarchy.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose who it applies to">
    Select whether the auto-role should apply to **members**, **bots**, or **both**. This lets you give human members a different default role than bots.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Confirm">
    Confirm your selection. Solara will immediately begin assigning this role to every new join going forward.
  </Step>
</Steps>
